Nations bring sockeye back to Arrow Lakes for first time in decades
Sep 12, 2024 · Lance Thomas sent well wishes as he helped release dozens of adult sockeye salmon into the Arrow Lakes last week. “Pray that they have a safe journey,” said Thomas, with the Ktunaxa Nation’s ʔa·knusti (Guardian) program.
Sockeye salmon released into Lower Arrow Lakes
Sep 26, 2024 · After a journey from the Okanagan via water tank and truck, 41 adult sockeye salmon were released into Lower Arrow Lake on August 30. Representatives from the Sylix Okanagan and Ktunaxa Nations, researchers, and community members gathered at the boat launch at Syringa Creek Provincial Park to release the fish.
