And if there is no correction by a strong father (Cooper is submissive and weak) children like Sheldon get stick in the egocentric phase. In this phase all children believe that the world has only one duty, serving the child. Usually children grow out of this phase and develop empathy and respect. Thanks to dumb Mary, Sheldon never had to do that.

Mar 6, 2023 · This was my experience. My mother, SO, and I all watch Young Sheldon to some degree. Mom and SO think Mary is the best character in the show. I like her a lot too. Then I joined this subreddit and experienced quite a shock, haha. Mary has a good heart and works so hard at herding her family of cats and keeping everything functioning.

How was Mary Cooper same or different in Big Bang?
Mary is actually significantly different in BBT. She pretty much has no filter and her whole character shtick, aside from still being super-religious, is making offensive remarks about other races and religions. She's a lot funnier than in Young Sheldon, but definitely different.
