A weird week for BioWare just got a little weirder, as EA reveals in its new quarterly financial statement that Dragon Age: The Veilguard unperformed sales expectations by 50% for the company's 2025 fiscal year third quarter.

It seems that developer BioWare might already be done supporting Dragon Age: The Veilguard in a major way. Since launching just a few months back, BioWare has been quick to push out additional updates for the newest Dragon Age game to bring it to a better place.

A new game, particularly one ten years in the making after a GOTY-winning sequel, underperforming by a full 50% is dire. You’ll also notice from the wording there that it says “engaged” not “sold,” as this number includes those who might have played via EA Play. So sales are likely not much above a million.

The Veilguard failed to meet EA's sales expectations by almost 50%, selling only around 1.5 million units. The game received mostly positive reviews from critics but had a divisive reception among fans.

Electronic Arts revealed its financial report for the third quarter of the fiscal year. It explicitly admits that Dragon Age: The Veilguard did worse than expected.

The Veilguard wouldn’t be getting any major DLC or expansions after its launch in October, but now it sounds like the studio is moving on from putting out big patches for the game after less than three months.

BioWare says that Veilguard is in a stable place and the team will shift to 'monitor for any game-breaking bugs, should those occur.'
