The Portland Thorns and future Portland WNBA team have a new home.

The first-of-its-kind women's sports facility would serve both the Portland Thorns FC and Portland's new WNBA franchise with a 12-acre performance center.

The Portland Thorns and the city's incoming WNBA franchise unveiled plans on Thursday to build a first-of-its kind two-sport performance center that will house both teams.

A new training facility will be built in Hillsboro and it will serve both the Portland Thorns FC and the city’s new WNBA franchise, RAJ Sports announced Thursday. The performance center, which will be located on Northeast Aloclek Drive in an existing office building previously occupied by Nike,

The project comes a little over one year after the Bhathal family, who are also investors in the NBA’s Sacramento Kings, completed its $ 63-million acquisition of the Thorns. In September, the family was a warded the WNBA’s 15th franchise, which has sold more than 8,000 season tickets before announcing its name.

The Portland Thorns of the National Women's Soccer League and the city's as-yet unnamed WNBA team will train together at a new performance center in a first-of-its-kind alliance between teams from both leagues.
