The deep-sea critter, now called Bathynomus vaderi, got its name after researchers noticed its head shared a resemblance to the helmet worn by iconic “Star Wars” villain Darth Vader.
The new initiative builds on the Community Chest’s Share programme, which was launched in 1984 and encourages individuals and employees to donate a small amount of their monthly pay to charity.
"The name 'vaderi' is inspired by the appearance of its head, which closely resembles the distinctive and iconic helmet of Darth Vader, the most famous Sith Lord of Star Wars," researchers stated.
