The No. 2 Duke Blue Devils are on their longest winning streak in nearly two decades after collecting their 16th consecutive win, an 83-54 triumph at Syracuse.

Now, though, third-year Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer and his squad are missing a different transfer forward in graduate Mason Gillis. The 6-foot-6, 225-pound reserve out of Purdue did not make the trip to Syracuse for the Blue Devils' showdown against the Orange (10-12, 4-7 ACC) at 7 p.m. Wednesday (ESPN2).

The Purdue transfer has played 153 games during his college career, which is more than anyone on Duke’s roster. Gillis is averaging 4.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 14.7 minutes through 21 games with the Blue Devils.

Riding a 15-game winning streak, the No. 2-ranked Duke Blue Devils just regained their full roster when Maliq Brown returned for Saturday’s 87-70 win over UNC. Now, Duke is shorthanded again.

The second-ranked Blue Devils took those words to heart Wednesday night at the JMA Wireless Dome, putting together yet another comfortable performance against Syracuse. The 83-54 win, spearheaded by Tyrese Proctor’s 16 points and one of Duke’s most dominant defensive showings in conference play,
