COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Former Ohio Republican Party Chair Jane Timken is headed to the Statehouse. Timken, who unsuccessfully ran to be a U.S. Senator, will instead replace state Sen. Kirk Schuring in the Ohio Senate.
Timken was newly-elected President Trump’s pick to lead the Ohio GOP when she ousted Matt Borges in 2017. Borges had supported former Ohio Gov. John Kasich as he ran against Trump in the 2016 primary, and had not been an enthusiastic supporter after Trump became the GOP nominee.
Ohio Republican Party Chairman Alex Triantafilou declared that Ohio is no longer a swing state during a special event held in Fremont by the Sandusky County Republican Party. Triantafilou attributed Republican successes in the last election to continued party unity, from the Ohio Statehouse to the U.S. Congress and the presidency.
