A fire broke out at a homeless camp in Seaside on Monday afternoon, resulting in one fatality, according to local authorities.

The home ignites, becoming the fire’s fuel. Soon, it puts off radiant heat that can ignite the exterior of the home next door, which then allows fire to penetrate to the neighbor’s carpets, furniture and appliances. In dense neighborhoods, the events play out like a contagion.

One person was found dead after a fire broke out at a homeless camp in Seaside, authorities said. Just before 1 p.m. on Wednesday, the Seaside Police Department and Seaside Fire and Rescue responded to a 911 call about a reported fire at the camp.
