During the Celtics-Warriors game on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, TNT analyst and Basketball Hall of Famer Reggie Miller appeared to leak that Clark and Thompson would join the showdown at All-Star Weekend.

The NBA reportedly wanted to expand on last year’s high-profile shootout between Steph Curry and Sabrina Ionescu.

"Caitlin Clark has told the NBA she is disinclined to participate in an All-Star Game 3-point contest next month that could include Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Sabrina Ionescu, sources told SBJ, although indications are the league is still in discussions with Clark’s representatives."

All-Star weekend is being hosted by the Warriors, and the Mavericks’ Thompson says he would be interested in returning to the Bay Area for the festivities

Clark, who stars for the WNBA’s Indiana Fever, declined to participate in NBA All-Star weekend’s 3-point shootout pitting stars from the respective leagues against one another, her agency told multiple outlets Wednesday. Curry and New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu — a Bay Area native — squared off in the event last year.

The WNBA is looking to capitalize on the unprecedented attention it received last year with record attendance at games and record television ratings. With the addition of Ms. Clark, the first overall pick, the Fever led the WNBA in attendance with an average of just under 17,000 and 10 of Indiana’s games set league TV viewership records.
