Eli Tomac passed teammate Cooper Webb on Lap 12 of 24 in Round 2 of the Monster Energy Supercross series at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, California, and held his advantage until the checkered flag waved.

Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s 2x 450SX champion Eli Tomac and reigning 450SX champion Honda HRC Progressive’s Jett Lawrence went head-to-head. In the end, Tomac showed that “Beast Mode” was back and emerged victorious, earning his 53rd career win and extending his streak to 11 consecutive seasons with a victory in the premier class.

Julie Beaumer scored his first Supercross podium in the season opener in Anaheim. It took only one more race to get his first victory.

Chase Sexton fell on the opening lap, dropping to last place. Sexton worked his way up to the top 10 by lap 10. Sexton passed Malcolm Stewart for P6 on lap 19, which was as far as he could advance. Sexton was able to close to within a second of Hunter Lawrence on the final lap.

Four of the top five riders at A1 were former Supercross Champions in the premier class. Only Ken Roczen crashed the party, and defending champion Jett Lawrence didn’t crack the top 10 due to a Tuff Block and a crash.
