Denver Public Schools has become the first U.S. school district to sue the Trump administration challenging its policy allowing ICE immigration agents in schools.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents did not make any arrests at Denver schools on Feb. 5, but DPS leaders and educators across the metro area have become concerned about such a scenario after the Trump administration rescinded a 2011 policy that prevented immigration officials from making arrests at sensitive locations, such as schools.

Denver Public Schools is seeking a temporary restraining order to reinstate a federal policy prohibiting immigration enforcement actions at "sensitive" locations.

DPS said the legal action comes in response to a directive revoking long-standing policies regarding immigration enforcement.
