Carlos Alcaraz has missed training and began wearing a nasal strip as he battles a cold before the Rotterdam Open.

Carlos Alcaraz arrived in Rotterdam a few days before the start of the tournament, in order to test the speed of the courts and get used to the conditions in view of his debut which will take place on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Carlos Alcaraz has given an update on his physical health after suffering from an illness in the build up to his debut at the Rotterdam Open. The 21-year-old will play world No 84 Botic van de Zandschulp in his first match at the ATP 500 tournament on Tuesday.

Australian Open, Carlos Alcaraz didn’t play any hard-court tournament before Indian Wells and preferred playing on the South American clay.

Alcaraz will have extra motivation to start the tournament in high gear and try to win his first title in 2025. The last time the Spaniard lifted a trophy was in October 2024, when he won the Beijing ATP 500.

Carlos Alcaraz has asserted that he “wants to take revenge” on Botic van de Zandschulp ahead of his showdown with the Dutchman at the 2025 Rotterdam Open. The Spaniard also addressed whether his defeat to Novak Djokovic at the 2025 Australian Open was a “missed opportunity.
