Burnley move back into the Championship automatic promotion places as they beat Oxford at Turf Moor to extend their unbeaten league run to 18 matches.

Oxford United suffered a first league defeat under Gary Rowett as the U’s lost 1-0 at Burnley. A Michal Helik own-goal on 32 minutes was the difference between the two sides at Turf Moor.

The margin of defeat was narrow and Oxford certainly made their hosts work for the three points, but in the end the victory was enough for Burnley to climb to second in the Championship.

Burnley are all set to host Oxford United in their upcoming English League Championship match on February 5. The Clarets are in third place.

Burnley will hope to continue an unbeaten game at home this season when they welcome Oxford United to the Riverside Stadium on Tuesday. The Clarets have the best defense in the league this season, having conceded just nine goals.
