On being asked about his comparisons with the Hall of Famer, Penta said this:

Penta has no fear, nor a desire to be anyone but himself. The masked superstar is arguably the most exciting debutant the WWE has seen in some time as the promotion continues searching for Rey Mysterio's successor.

Rey Mysterio is universally beloved and has long been WWE's key to gaining favor with Latin American audiences. The promotion has seen countless luchadors come and go over the decades, but none has ever been deemed fit to succeed Rey Mysterio.

His popularity crossed over when San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle adopted Penta’s hand gesture as part of a victory celebration. Penta, who was fresh off a run in All Elite Wrestling, made a huge first impression with the audience and has been on a roll ever since.
