Manchester United are close to completing a deal for Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu. United had one bid for the Denmark international turned down last week but have remained in negotiations for the 20-year-old and believe it is a matter of time before he is cleared to have a medical.

Manchester United have reached a broad agreement with Lecce for the transfer of Patrick Dorgu for €30million (£25.2m) plus €5m (£4.2m) in add-ons. The Serie A side had been holding out for €40m (£33.6m) but negotiations have brought the figure to below United’s aim of a total £30m package with the add-ons a split of both simple bonuses and others that are more difficult to achieve.

Manchester United’s further signings in January will depend on outgoings after the Red Devils advanced on a deal for Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu.
