The Supreme Court of Maryland on Monday upheld as constitutional the state’s Child Victims Act, which took effect in 2023 and eliminates time limits for lawsuits to be filed by people who were sexually abused as children.

Maryland's Supreme Court on Monday upheld the constitutionality of a state law that ended the statute of limitations for child sexual abuse lawsuits following a report that exposed widespread wrongdoing within the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

The decision resolves challenges that said lawsuits were unconstitutional, lawyers representing abuse survivors says.
