Michael Callahan practiced with the Bruins on Monday and has a chance to play Tuesday against the Wild — three days after a puck to the face ended his afternoon early.

Bruins defenseman Michael Callahan will play on Tuesday against Minnesota, but he spent most of the weekend in a dentist's chair.

BOSTON — Keeping defenseman healthy continues to be a challenge for the Bruins. Rookie Michael Callahan left the game early in the second period after an elevated Rangers’ clear hit him in the face. Callahan had blood on his lips as he skated to the bench and down the tunnel to the dressing room.

Bruins defenseman Michael Callahan more than held his own in his second career NHL game, helping Boston beat the Senators.

The 25-year-old defenseman — pressed into service because of the absences of Hampus Lindholm and Charlie McAvoy — logged 16:27 of ice time skating alongside Brandon Carlo.
