Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield has no hard feelings about Liam Coen's about-face, after Coen initially said he would return as the Bucs' offensive coordinator and then took the Jaguars' head-coaching job.

For Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, the question has never been talent or desire. Lawrence, the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, has had the "generational prospect" tag live with him through every turn of his career.

With a strange hiring process and the obligatory introductory news conference behind him, Liam Coen officially begins his job Tuesday as the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars with clear missions in mind: creating a winning culture built on aggressive play and designing a top-flight offense around quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

After a long and winding path, Liam Coen is the new head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.  As with all first-time head coaches, it’s impossible to know how Coen will handle the expanded responsibilities of running an entire football team.

For newly hired Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen, this fall won’t be the first instance of him standing on the sidelines as quarterback Trevor Lawrence plays a game. Back in 2014, Coen saw Lawrence play live as the Cartersville Purple Hurricanes hosted the Buford Wolves in the 4A Georgia High School Association Football State Semifinals.

A top priority for new Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach Liam Coen will be maximizing Trevor Lawrence’s sky-high abilities at the quarterback position. We all know this, and when thinking about how Coen might go about doing that, the passing game concepts, play designs, and giving Lawrence the autonomy to change plays may all come to mind first.
