The Critics Choice Awards, which were hosted for a third year in a row by Chelsea Handler, has traditionally been a good Oscar bellwether. Last year, eventual Best Picture Oscar winner Oppenheimer scored a leading eight wins here including the marquee Best Picture prize that Anora just snagged.

Critics Choice Awards are being handed out in Santa Monica. Chelsea Handler, hosting for the third time, began the show with a sincere tribute to the Los Angeles fire department first responders, some of whom where seated in Barker Hangar and received a prolonged standing ovation from the crowd.
